Pierre Choinière
At 18, Pierre Choinière, a Quebecer determined to become a professional photographer, trained at the School of Modern Photography in New York, where he had the opportunity to attend masterclasses with renowned portrait photographer Yousuf Karsh. Upon returning to Montreal, he began his career as a fashion photographer for Quebec magazines. In the mid-1980s, he moved to Paris, where he met agents who would represent him in both the City of Lights and New York.
For twenty years, renowned for his sensitivity and meticulousness, he worked for the most prestigious European magazines. He photographed the biggest supermodels of the 1990s: Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Diane Kruger, Carole Bouquet, Yasmeen Ghauri, and many others. His images showcased the creations of some of the greatest French designers, including Jean-Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior, Issey Miyake, and Chanel. For the past few years, he has devoted himself to personal projects.
His photographic reportage has taken him to the Berbers of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco and to the heart of the Mongolian steppes. A book and an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Marrakech, among other projects, attest to his affinity for the black and white technique, which he handles brilliantly. A project on Habitat 67, a Brutalist architectural masterpiece by Moshe Safdie, located in Cité du Havre in Montreal, is currently in production.
After a year in Corsica, in 2026 he published, in collaboration with Isabelle Hébert, the photographic art book PASSION CORSICA which highlights the people of the Isle of Beauty through its architecture, its landscapes, its art and its know-how.
